Backend Developer Intern

Job Purpose
Support the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend systems that power Sleekabyte's digital products. The Backend Developer Intern will work alongside experienced engineers to build APIs, manage databases, and contribute to secure, reliable, and high-performing applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining backend services for web and mobile applications.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following established coding standards.
- Support database design, implementation, and optimization.
- Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, designers, and QA engineers to deliver high-quality software.
- Assist in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving backend issues.
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions.
- Help implement authentication, security, and performance optimization best practices.
- Contribute to API documentation and technical documentation.
- Learn and apply software engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in at least one backend programming language
- Basic understanding of backend architecture.
- Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Firebase.
- Basic knowledge of Git and version control workflows.
